My favourite veggie is – sugar snap or snow pea! I love to munch on them as I go about garden chores. They are great in a stir fry, blanched and thrown into salads or wrapped into Vietnamese rolls.
What do you enjoy about being a member of MBCG?
I love it when the Birchgrove Preschool community come to the garden for their mini working bee. About 4 times a term the kids, their teachers and their carers visit the garden, then it’s all hands on deck!
We dig, sow seeds, mulch and water. At times we harvest, pull out dead plants, chop them up and take them to the compost.
The smiles on the kids faces say it all, as they examine wriggling worms and skittish slaters, or see a pea, bean or tomato merging from the flower into the vegetable.
